If there was ever a shadow of doubt before, winter in now in full swing.

The arrival of winter means having to dress according to the colder weather. However, that doesn’t mean that you have to compromise your sense of style. There are plenty of trendy winter options that are making their way into the Winter 2015 catalogues.

To stay on top of these trends and stay warm and fashionable this winter, I have compiled a number of trends that I have noticed thus far.

What goes around comes back around, especially when it comes to winter fashion.

The sixties were a decade of shift dresses and go-go boots, and vibrant prints. These are styles that are coming back full swing this winter season.

Shift dresses are girly and feminine and the prints add personality and colour in the midst of the dreary winter season. Go-Go boots act as that staple accessory acknowledging the winter season, but still trendy enough that it will not compromise your outfit.

This winter, slip on a sweetly short dress or skirt with a slightly flared hem. Add flirty details like bows or a collar for added effect, and transition into winter by slipping on thigh high boots.

For all you animal lovers out there, there are an assortment of faux fur options that you can buy for the winter season.

Furs are always on tap for the winter months–this season they’re jazzier than ever! Let your coat do the talking by pairing it with subdued separates.

As an animal lover myself, I really like to promote faux furs. Faux fur vests, coats and scarves still provide that same kind of warmth without having to promote animal skinning.

They come in some really nice neutral colours and act as the perfect staple for the winter season.

Ponchos and capes are winter staples, so it’s now all about that personal touch. Splash your wrap with your initials, showing the world your singular style.

Celebrities from Blake Lively to Olivia Palermo have stepped out wearing ponchos and wraps, which have received plenty of positive reviews from fashion bloggers like myself.

One of the reasons why they work is because they offer that same kind of coziness that blankets offer you when you’re at home. It’s like bringing a (trendy) little piece of home with you when you’re on the go.
